So, while it's persisting down with rain and freezing cold outside in our typical British winter, I decided to  give the 750 some well
deserved TLC....Prompted by the fact that the front callipers were getting a bit sticky - that's what you get
for taking a bike out for a long run in serious rain on salt encrusted roads, then bringing it home and leaving it for a week or so!!
While I'm about it I'm going to check / clean one or two other little things.

I've started by taking off the forks and removing the steering stem and yokes. This was to
check the headstock bearings, which as I suspected were ok - in fact they've been replaced at sometime in the not too distant past .
The oil was drained from the forks while they were out and found to be some kind Hypoy gear oil - which stunk my garage out!

*Note:.... A quick check of the specs in the workshop manual states that the correct fork oil is in fact ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid)
Which would explain the acrid Hypoy smell.  I think that's a bit lightweight - the bike always felt like it needed more damping so it will be
getting replenished with fresh 10W fork oil. It could probably do with a new set of springs as well but cash doesn't allow too much expense
at the moment, so they'll have to wait 'til later in the year

The top yoke removed and painted, the middle bit under the masking tape has been polished. It took some getting off this thing, I broke
two torx drive bits trying undo the ignition switch mounting bolts - I didn't fancy taking all the fairing off to get at the wiring loom plug
to disconnect it.  In the end a bit of heat released the Loctited in bolts - just as well because I was on my last torx drive bit of that size!

The top yoke polished, painted and clear lacquered. The black painted bottom yoke can just be seen top left of the picture

The forks re-sprayed. These were done shortly after I bought the bike but the colour I picked
up in the rattle can from Halford's turned out to be a lot darker than what was shown on the lid. (see page one)
This is more like the original colour, and it's a clear over base acrylic paint (normal rattle can) which should be
quite hard wearing, it was ok in the darker colour anyway. Before painting the fork legs I changed the fork oil for 10W

The forks re-painted

The callipers after being freed off.  After leaving & soaking overnight in fresh brake fluid (which won't
damage the rubber seals like WD40 etc is suspected to do) a quick blast from the airline soon got them to shift.

Pads back in, these were new last July so no point in putting new ones in yet,  I'm just waiting for some new stainless steel
braided lines & bleed nipples to arrive now
